Simon Addyman

Simon Addyman, born in 1957 in Colchester, Essex, England, is a British-born artist who now lives and works in Auburn, Northern California, with his artist/printmaker wife, Carol. He was raised in a household full of art — both his parents were artists, with his father, John Addyman, a well-known watercolorist and his mother, Madeline, a successful printmaker. This early exposure nurtured his passion for visual art.

Simon trained at the Colchester School of Art and the City & Guilds of London Art School, earning a diploma in fine art. He began his career as an illustrator, graphic artist, and Muralist, producing murals, custom art commissions for interior designers, and scenic art in Hollywood. However, his true calling remained painting, and he returned to it after exploring commercial art.

He is known for his expressive landscape paintings and still lifes, often created from direct
observation (plein air) and developed in the studio. His work is celebrated for its versatility and
distinctive style, which he consistently infuses into his pieces, making them highly valued by
collectors.

Simon says: “Ultimately, my goal is simple: to create meaningful work that brightens homes and
brings lasting joy to the people who welcome it into their lives.”
