Biography

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Julianne Marcoux began to draw at the age of three. Throughout her childhood she consistently surprised adults and peers with her ability to design beautiful images. After winning a scholarship to Arizona State University, Marcoux began to take steps towards her dream to be a professional artist. She created hundreds of art, prints and posters, which were consistently well received.

Marcoux won several grants, awards, scholarships and nominations, reinforcing her decision to make art, prints and posters for a continually growing audience. Marcoux is inspired by many different sources; other artists and styles continually influence her work as it evolves.

However, Marcoux believes that painting art, prints and posters from life has provided her with invaluable experience.

“Drawing from life has been the greatest teacher and has proven to me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, whether it be a figure, a flower, a landscape, or an abstraction of any of these. There are hidden treasures everywhere. My job is to incorporate these found beauties with sophistication and diversity.”
